Savvy Shopping Tips

Going to the supermarket can be a nightmare…… trying to remember what you need, sticking to a budget. I’ve put down a few tips that keep me on track and thought that I’d share them with you:

1) Be Organised- know exactly what’s in your fridge, freezer and store cupboard.

2) Write a list - I always write a menu for the week, check what you have in already then write what else you need to buy. Don’t be too rigid if you’ve pork casserole on the menu but see some chicken breasts reduced to £1, makes sense change your recipe and buy them instead. It certainly pays to be flexible and creative when food planning.

3) Budget- Set yourself a budget and try and stick to it, I love the supermarkets that have scanners that add up your bill whilst you shop, you can keep an eye on what you’re spending before you get a shock at the till.

4) Reductions- Find out when your local supermarket marks down their reductions. Beware thought don’t just buy everything that’d reduced, think can I use it today? Can it be frozen? - mince, chicken are always handy to keep in the freezer for a mid-week tea.

Best of luck in being frugal…..and happy shopping!
