Summer Days Out with the Kids

It’s finally upon us – the six weeks holiday!! So we thought we would share some ideas of

how to keep the family entertained locally so you can all enjoy the summer together 😊



Westport Lake Visitor Centre

Enjoy the great outdoors on a free day out at Westport Lake in Stoke-on-Trent. Take binoculars and see what wildlife the kids can spot on the lakes and in the grass and woodland conservation area. There are holiday activities, a children’s play area and kids parties with a wild twist!

Ford Green Hall

Step back in time on a day out with the kids at Ford Green Hall, a 17th-century timber-framed farmhouse and period garden. Learn about life in Tudor times as you explore the furnished rooms, see original wattle and daub and visit the herb garden. An interesting museum bringing the past to life.

Funsters Burslem

Take the kids to visit Funsters Burslem in Staffordshire and join in the fun activities. This bright and colourful indoor play and party centre has an exciting play structure plus additional features such as the Bridge of Doom, a high glass walkway, air-operated ball cannons and sports court. Age and height limits apply.

Royal Stafford Ceramic Café

Pottery painting is one of the most popular creative activities for kids. Visit the Royal Stafford Ceramic Cafe in Stoke-on-Trent where they can get creative decorating their own special piece of pottery. Help and advice is available if required. A wonderful place to hold a stress-free children’s birthday party.

Foxfield Railway

Built in the 19th century to transport coal from the Foxfield Colliery, today the Foxfield Railway takes passengers on a scenic five-mile round trip by steam train through the Staffordshire Moorlands. The kids will enjoy the steep gradients! There is also a miniature railway.

Gladstone Pottery Museum

Visit Gladstone Pottery Museum during a family day out in Stoke-on-Trent. Discover the story of the Potteries at this Victorian pottery factory and imagine what life was like for the adults and children working there. Watch demonstrations, learn how bone china tableware was made and join in hands-on activities.
