Cleaning Ideas from Grandma

Years ago products were not as readily available as they are now, our Grandmas found that simple things from around the house had extraordinary cleaning powers. Here’s a few of them………………..

White Vinegar

Great for cleaning windows, mix equal parts of distilled white vinegar and water, apply with a sponge and wipe clean with a squeegee. It gives you a sparkly, streak free finish.

It can also be used to clean kettles, shower heads and taps…. and it’s cheap.

Lemon juice

A natural bleaching agent so brill for removing stains. Can be used on a chopping board to freshen, rub with the lemon and leave overnight, then rinse in the morning, clean and fresh.

Brighten your washing by adding half a cap of lemon juice.

Soda Crystals

Nothing worse than getting a red wine stain on your favourite top…… soak overnight in soda crystals then wash as normal and woosh the stain has gone!

Put down the sink with a little Zoflora, then wash down with boiling water from the kettle, keeping your drains clean and smelling sweetly.

Bicarbonate of Soda

Put in a pot and add water making a little paste, this can then be rubbed onto stubborn stains on saucepans, sinks, cookers and even floor tiles, clean off with water and dry. It will leave them looking like new.
