Big changes are on the horizon for landlords

From 1 July 2020 any vacant properties will need to undergo a compulsory electrical check before being let to a new tenant. From 1 April 2021 all properties, even ones with existing tenants must be checked. The checks must be repeated every 5 years to keep inside the new guidelines and a copy of the report be given to the tenants.

It is essential that the checks are completed to ensure that the landlord does not face a fine of up to £30,000.

This is great news for tenants and landlords alike, it will give tenants the re-assurance knowing that their home is safe and landlords a better knowledge of their properties.
